HOT SLAW 
1 qt. shredded cabbage
Meat fryings (ham or bacon)
1 c. white vinegar
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. sugar (optional)

Shred cabbage fine. Fry ham or bacon, remove all but a little meat and chop fine. Add to this vinegar, salt and sugar. When boiling put in cabbage and heat and stir until the cabbage is heated through. Serve hot.
