HOLIDAY CORDIAL | |
2 (4 or 5 qt.) bottles fine spirits (alcohol) 1 qt. red wine 1 pt. rum 2 c. nuts (pecans, walnuts) 3 lbs. sugar 1 c. cherry extract syrup 1 lemon 7 to 8 cloves 1/2 whole nutmeg 1 stick cinnamon Peel of an orange 1 stick vanilla (whole) 3 to 4 whole allspice 1 1/2 qts. water, distilled preferred Bring water to boil, add spices, nuts, lemon and orange rind. Add sugar. Boil vigorously until half the quantity. Then add wine, rum and cherry extract. Boil 15 to 20 minutes. Add fine spirits, bring to boil. Strain into decanters and cool. |
