1/2 c. granulated sugar 1/4 c. packed brown sugar 1/4 c. butter, softened 1/4 c. shortening 1 egg 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 2/3 c. all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt Approximately 30 chocolate mint wafers Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix sugars, butter, shortening, egg and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt. Shape about 1 tablespoon of dough around each wafer. Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until light brown, 9-10 minutes. Makes about 2 1/2 dozen. (Tootsie roll pieces, caramels, etc. can be substituted for chocolate wafers.) |
