3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
3 tbsp. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder

Cream together shortening, sugar, eggs and add milk and vanilla. Sift in the flour, salt and baking powder. Mix well. Place one tablespoon dough on cookie sheet. Press flat with glass wrapped in damp cloth. Sprinkle with sugar (plain or colored). Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes.
