"BAKED" NAVY BEANS | |
3 c. dry navy beans 1 med. onion, chopped 1 c. ketchup 1 c. brown sugar 1 tbsp. salt 2 tsp. dry mustard 2 tbsp. molasses 1/4 lb. salt pork or bacon, diced 1 c. water Cook dry beans in water until softened. (Simmer dry beans in three times their volume of water (unsalted) for 30 minutes in a saucepan. Allow to stand, covered, for an hour and a half or until softened); drain and put into crock pot. Add all remaining ingredients; mix well. Cover and cook on low 10 to 12 hours. (High 4 to 6 hours, stirring occasionally.) |
