BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES | |
1 gal. med. sized cucumbers 8 sm. white onions 1/3 c. coarse salt Cracked ice 4 c. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. turmeric 1 1/2 tsp. celery seed 2 tbsp. mustard seed 3 c. vinegar Thin slice cucumbers with peel on. Add sliced onions. Add salt; cover with ice; mix thoroughly. Let stand 3 hours, drain; rinse. Combine remaining ingredients. Pour over cucumber and onions. Bring to boil; seal in sterilized jars. Makes 8 pints. |
