CASSEROLE CHEESE BREAD | |
1 c. milk, scalded 3 tbsp. sugar 1 tbsp. salt 1 tbsp. butter 1 c. warm water 2 pkgs. dry yeast 1 c. (or more) grated cheddar cheese 4 1/2 c. sifted flour Scald milk. Stir in 3 tablespoons sugar, 1 tablespoon salt and 1 tablespoon butter. Cool to lukewarm. Measure 1 cup warm water into large bowl. Sprinkle in 2 packages yeast. Stir until dissolved. Add lukewarm milk mixture, grated cheese and all the flour. Stir until well blended, about 2 minutes. Cover, let rise in warm place 45 minutes. Stir batter down and beat vigorously 1/2 minute. Turn into 2 greased 1 1/2 quart casserole or 2 (9 x 5 x 3 inch) loaf pans. Bake uncovered in 375 degree oven for about 1 hour. |
