DANISH PASTRY APPLE BARS
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1 egg yolk
4 c. corn flakes
8-10 tart apples, peeled & sliced
3/4 - 1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 egg white
1 c. sifted powdered sugar
3-4 tsp. milk

On floured surface roll half of the dough to 17"x12" rectangle, fit into bottom and sides of cookie sheet. Sprinkle with corn flakes. Top with apple slices. Mix sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over apples. Roll remaining dough to 18 1/2" x 10 1/2" rectangle. Place over apples; seal edges. Make slits on top for the steam to come out. Beat egg white until frothy, brush top.

Bake at 375 degrees for 50 minutes. While warm, drizzle with powdered sugar and 3 to 4 teaspoons of milk. Cool. Cut into bars. Makes 36 bars.
