1 1/2 qts. string beans, cut into small pieces
2 tbsp. diced bacon
1 tbsp. lard
3 lg. onions, sliced
4 med. potatoes, diced
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. hot water
Dash of pepper

Fry the bacon until crisp, add to string beans and water, and cook about 20 minutes. Add the potatoes and other ingredients and cook until potatoes are soft.
