NANNY'S CHOCOLATE COOKIES | |
1 c. brown sugar 1 egg, well beaten 1 stick melted butter 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tbsp. boiling water 1/2 c. milk 2 c. flour 4 tbsp. cocoa 1 c. chopped nuts Mix sugar and egg together in a large bowl. Dissolve soda in the boiling water and add to sugar and egg mixture. Sift flour and cocoa together and add them to the sugar and egg mixture alternating with the milk. Add the nuts. Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees. Place on greased cookie sheet 10-12 minutes or until done. Cookies will be puffy. Frost while still warm. FROSTING: 1 c. powdered sugar 4 tbsp. cocoa 1 lg. tbsp. butter 2-3 tbsp. or more of coffee Sift cocoa and sugar. Allow butter to soften, then mix with the cocoa and sugar. Add coffee slowly until right consistency is reached. Spread on cookies. |
