DANISH APPLE BARS 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 c. shortening
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar
1 c. corn flakes
Sliced apples
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 egg white

Mix left side ingredients together. Add milk to egg yolk to make 2/3 cup liquid; mix as for pie crust; roll out half of pastry to fit jelly roll pan. Press up on sides of pan; sprinkle with 1 cup crushed corn flakes; peel and slice enough apples to cover corn flakes well (about 4-5 cups); combined 1 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon and sprinkle over apples. Roll out remaining dough to fit over top of apples; moisten edges. Press together. Beat the egg whites and brush over top of crust. Bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour; while warm glaze with icing.

ICING:

1 c. powdered sugar
1 tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix well and dribble over top of baked crust.
