EASY ITALIAN CASSEROLE 
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 clove garlic, crushed or powder
1 (16 oz.) can tomato sauce
14 oz. can drained mushrooms
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp. basil
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 c. Bisquick
1/2 c. milk
1 egg
8 slices American cheese
1/4 c. grated parmesan cheese

Cook and stir beef, onion and garlic until brown. Drain off excess fat. Stir in sauce, mushrooms and spices. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Grease 8 x 8 x 2 inch baking dish. Mix Bisquick, milk and egg. Spread half in pan. Top with 4 slices of cheese. Spoon beef mixture over cheese. Top with remaining cheese. Sprinkle parmesan over. Drop remaining dough by spoonful onto cheese. Bake until light brown for about 20 minutes. Serves 6 to 8.
