PRIZE CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
3/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. Hershey's cocoa
1 3/4 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
1 3/4 c. milk

Generously grease and flour two 9 inch round cake pans or a 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Cream butter, shortening, sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy; blend in eggs. Combine baking soda, cocoa, flour, baking powder, and salt in bowl. Add alternately with milk to batter. Blend well. Pour into prepared pans; bake at 350 degrees until cake tester inserted in cake comes out clean (30-35 minutes - 9 inch rounds, 40-45 minutes for 13 x 9 x 2 inch). Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan.
