COMPANY BEST PICKLES 
10 med. cucumbers
8 c. sugar
2 tbsp. mixed pickling spices
5 tsp. salt
4 c. cider vinegar

Cover whole cucumbers with boiling water. Allow to stand until next morning; drain. Repeat this procedure for 3 more days. On fifth day, drain and slice in 1/2 inch pieces. Combine sugar, spices, salt, and vinegar. Bring to a boil and pour over cucumbers. Let stand 2 days. On third day, bring to a boil and seal in hot sterilized jars. Makes 7 pints.
