HOT GINGERBREAD SQUARES | |
1/2 c. shortening 1/2 c. brown sugar 1 c. dark molasses 2 eggs 2 1/4 c. sifted flour 1/4 c. cocoa 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. ground ginger 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg 1/2 tsp. ground cloves 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 c. hot water or hot coffee Cream the shortening, gradually adding sugar; blend well. Then beat in molasses. Add eggs, one at a time and beat well. Sift dry ingredients alternately with hot water or coffee, beating after each addition. The batter should be rather thin. Pour in a well greased shallow pan and bake in oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Serve with whipped cream. |
