APRICOT - APPLE BRAID 
2 crust pie recipe
2 tbsp. bread crumbs (fresh)
1 sm. jar apricot preserves
Sliced apples to cover
1/4 c. raisins
1/4 c. chopped almonds
3/4 tsp. grated lemon rind
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 tbsp. butter
1 egg, beaten

Roll 1/2 of pastry to 18 x 12 x 1/4 inch. Sprinkle with crumbs. Spread with preserves, leaving 2 inch border all around. Spread apples, raisins and nuts. Sprinkle with lemon rind and spices. Dot with butter. Fold the 2 long sides to center with about 2 inch overlap. With spatula, place roll seam side down on cookie sheet. Tuck ends under 2 inches. Roll remaining dough 18 x 12 x 1/4 inch. Cut into 18 x 1/2 inch strips. Make braids or otherwise decorate top. Brush all over with egg. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes.
