AUNT ROSE'S CORNMEAL CAKE FOR
MANESTA
 
2 c. self-rising flour
1 1/2 c. cornmeal
1 c. hot water
1/2 lb. bacon, rendered & crumbled
Salt & pepper to taste

Mix all ingredients together. Fry in 2 large skillets, lightly coated with oil, about 15 to 20 minutes on each side or until crusty on both sides. Break into pieces and put in soup bowl. Spoon Manesta over top.
