3 c. flour
2 c. sugar
5 tbsp. cocoa
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt (or to taste)
2 tbsp. vinegar
12 tbsp. salad oil or shortening
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. cold water

Sift dry ingredients into a large bowl. Add vinegar, shortening and vanilla. Mix well. Pour in the water and beat well. Pour into a well greased cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 35 to 40 minutes or until done.
