1 qt. fresh strawberries
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. butter
3 tbsp. cornstarch
1 tsp. baking powder
Few drops red food coloring
Cool Whip
1 deep dish pie shell, baked

Wash strawberries. Set aside 6 pretty berries to top pie, then cap and slice remaining berries. Crush half the berries and combine with sugar, cornstarch and baking powder. Cook while stirring constantly approximately 5 minutes. Add butter and red food coloring and set aside. Place remaining half of berries in baked pie shell. Pour cooked berries over berries in shell. Cool, then top with Cool Whip. Decorate with whole berries.
