OATMEAL CAKE AND TOPPING 
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. 3 minute oatmeal
1/2 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 1/3 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

TOPPING:

1 stick butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1 c. coconut
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Mix boiling water and oatmeal and set aside. Cream butter, brown sugar and white sugar. Add oatmeal from above. Add all remaining ingredients. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes in 9x13 inch pan.

Topping: Bring butter, brown sugar and evaporated milk to a boil and cook slightly. Add coconut and nuts. Spread mixture over hot cake and broil until bubbly.
