1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. peanut butter
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream together shortening, granulated sugar and brown sugar. Beat in egg, vanilla and peanut butter. Add flour, soda and salt. Mix until blended. Roll into small balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press each ball with tines of fork to flatten.

Bake at 350°F for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.

Yield: about 4 dozen cookies.
