ENGLISH TOFFEE 
1 c. granulated sugar
1/2 lb. butter (only)
3 tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla
3 plain milk chocolate bars
3/4 c. chopped pecans

Cook sugar, butter and water in saucepan for 10 minutes or until brown, stirring constantly to prevent burning. Add vanilla. Pour in thin layer in buttered 13 x 9 inch pan. Lay three chocolate bars across hot mass and spread evenly while still warm. Sprinkle with 3/4 cup chopped pecans. Cool thoroughly and break into pieces. Store in tight container.
