My cousin made this at my mothers I'm guessing the early 60's and it was the best then as well as now that I have ever eaten. Cuz also told the story then of the person paying $300.00 for it. My mother has been making it since then, she's 94, makes it for Christmas and holidays, I got mine in the mail this year. The problem with making this myself is that I am the only one that eats it in my house. It is sooo good with a glass of cold milk and I can sooo easily eat it all. Yum yum!!! The key to making this is keep stirring, it burns easily and will not set up if you don't.

In the 1960s when this recipe was written down, chips came in 6 oz bags, not 12 oz bags, but now people are unsure about the right chocolate to syrup ratio. It would be nice to get this clearly addressed by a few expert grandma's who have used and customized this recipe over the years to get their feedback. Maybe it's not critical.. but it will definitely have a different consistency and flavor switching between the two ratios. Appreciate feedback.
