CREAM CHEESE BROWNIES 
3/4 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
5 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. shortening, softened
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped pecans

Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa together. Add the shortening, eggs, sugar and vanilla; mix with mixer at low speed for 30 seconds. Scrape sides of bowl and beater, then beat at medium speed for 1 minute. Add the pecans and continue beating at medium speed for 1 minute longer. Pour into a greased 8 x 8 x 2 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 35 minutes.
