CHINESE CHICKEN SALAD 
6 tbsp. soy sauce
1/4 c. lemon juice
1 1/2 tbsp. catsup
1 tbsp. honey
2 tbsp. salad oil
1 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
6 drops hot pepper sauce
1/2 tsp. anise extract
4 c. shredded cooked chicken
2 c. shredded iceberg lettuce
1/2 c. sliced almonds, toasted
3 tbsp. sesame seeds, toasted
1/2 c. sliced scallions
Canned chow mein noodles

Combine soy sauce, lemon juice, catsup, honey, oil, ginger, garlic, hot pepper sauce, and anise in a large bowl. Stir in chicken, then refrigerate. When ready to serve, toss chicken mixture with shredded lettuce, then with remaining ingredients. Serves 6.

For extra color in the salad, add well-drained bits of pimiento.
