DATE FILLED COOKIES 
COOKIE DOUGH:

2 c. brown sugar
3 eggs
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
4 c. sifted flour
1 c. shortening (oleo)
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

FILLING:

1 lb. dates
1/2 c. nutmeats
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. water

Cook filling to a paste; let cool. Divide dough into 2 parts. Roll each out like jelly roll. Spread with filling. Roll up and chill for 3 hours in refrigerator. Cut into slices and bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes.
