CUCUMBER-ONION PICKLES 
12 lg. cucumbers
6 med.-sized onions
1/2 c. salt
1 qt. vinegar
2 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. mustard
1 tbsp. turmeric
1 tbsp. cornstarch

Wash, peel and slice cucumbers. Peel and slice onions. Cover with the salt and let stand overnight. Bring vinegar and sugar to a boil. Mix mustard, turmeric and cornstarch with a little cold vinegar and add to vinegar and sugar mixture. Drain cucumbers and onions from salt water. Put in vinegar solution and bring to a boil. Pack into sterilized jars and seal while hot.
