SURPRISE CUPCAKES 
1 (8 oz.) pkg. soft cream cheese
1 egg
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. walnut flavoring
3/4 c. caramel bits

CAKES:

3 c. flour
2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. baking soda
1/2 c. cocoa
2/3 c. salad oil
2 tbsp. vinegar
2 tsp. vanilla

Mix filling: Soften cheese. Add egg, sugar, salt, bits and flavoring. Set aside.

Cake: Sift flour, sugar, soda and cocoa together. Add liquids. Fill cupcake papers. Put filling on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
