BUTTERMILK CAKE 
2 eggs
3/4 c. butter, melted
3 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda

Sift flour, sugar, salt, soda and cocoa together 3 times to mix well. Beat eggs until thick and lemon colored, then add milk and butter. Add alternately with dry ingredients to eggs.

Makes 3 layers.

Bake at 350°F for 30 to 35 minutes.

Icing:

2 1/2 c. sugar
c. butter
c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Cook sugar, butter and buttermilk until soft-ball is formed. Add soda; beat until ready to spread. The more you beat, the whiter it gets.
