CHRISTMAS CHERRY DATE BARS 
CRUMB MIXTURE:

1 c. flour
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/4 c. sugar

FILLING:

3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. flour
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. flaked coconut
1/4 c. each red and green cherries
1/4 tsp.salt
3/4 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. chopped pecans

Combine all crumb mix ingredients until crumbly. Press into ungreased 9 inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Combine all filling ingredients except dates, coconut, pecans and cherries. Beat until well mixed. Stir in remaining ingredients. Pour over hot crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely before cutting.
