GRANDMA'S APPLE CRUMB PIE | |
1 unbaked pie shell 3-4 large apples 1/2 c. sugar (filling) 2 tbsp. flour (filling) 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 2 tbsp. lemon juice 1/2 c. sugar (topping) 1/2 c. flour (topping) 1 stick butter (topping) Pare, core and quarter apples; halve each quarter. Place in large bowl. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour and 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg in a cup. Sprinkle this mixture over apples. Toss well to coat. Spoon into pastry shell and then drizzle with lemon juice. For topping, combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup flour. Cut in butter and sprinkle all this over apples. This makes a sweet crunchy topping on the pie. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour. |
