CRUMB - TOPPED APPLE PIE
1 c. all-purpose flour
3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 c. butter, melted
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
4 c. peeled and diced Granny Smith apples
1 unbaked single 9 inch pie shell
1 1/2 tsp. butter, cut up

In medium bowl, combine flour and brown sugar. Stir in butter until moistened. Set aside. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In a small bowl, combine granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spoon apples into prepared pie shell. Sprinkle with sugar and spice mixture and dot with butter. Pat brown sugar topping over apples. Bake 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 375 degrees and bake 25 to 30 minutes more until filling is bubbly. If topping browns too quickly, cover loosely with foil. Makes 8 servings.
