CHOCOLATE OATMEAL CAKE 
1 c. rolled oats, uncooked
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa (or 3 sqs. chocolate, then use only 1/3 cup butter)
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix oats, and water. Let cool. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, and beat. Beat in oatmeal. In separate bowl, mix flour, cocoa, salt and soda. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture mixing enough to blend in. Put into greased 13 x 9 inch pan. Mix topping together:

1/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Sprinkle topping onto cake. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
