SPICY BANANA NUT BREAD 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. flour
3/4 c. whole wheat flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. cloves
1 1/4 c. ripe mashed banana
2 tbsp. milk
1/4 c. chopped nuts

In a large bowl mix butter and sugar well; add egg and vanilla. Beat until light and fluffy.

Combine flours and remaining dry ingredients. Add alternately with bananas and milk.

Spoon into a greased loaf pan. Sprinkle top with nuts. Press lightly into batter.

Bake at 350°F for 55 to 60 minutes.

Cool, remove from pan.

Yield: one loaf.
