NAN'S YEAST BISCUITS | |
1 pt. water 1 1/2 oz. dry yeast 1/3 c. sugar 1 1/2 tbsp. baking powder 1 1/2 qt. flour 1 1/2 tbsp. salt 1/2 c. dry milk 1/2 c. melted butter Mix yeast and water. Mix all dry ingredients, cut butter into - drying to consistency of meal. Add water and dissolved yeast. Blend until all flour is mixed well. Let rise 15 minutes. Divide into 4 portions. Roll out very thin and put in greased pan (17 x 24 inches) or 2 smaller pans. Brush top of first layer with melted butter. Roll out another portion and place on top of first one. Brush with butter and cut into 70 squares (10 across and 7 on end). Let rise 45 minutes. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 15 to 18 minutes or until brown. This is a thin but flaky delicious roll! |
