MADS BREAD PUDDING | |
1 qt. milk, scalded 2 c. bread cubes 2 eggs, slightly beaten 1/3 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 3 tsp. butter, melted 1/2 c. walnuts, chopped 1/2 c. apples, fresh or canned, sliced A handful of raisins 1/4 tsp. cinnamon A dash or 2 of nutmeg Add bread cubes to milk and soak 15 minutes. To beaten eggs add sugar, salt, then add bread and milk. Add melted butter, vanilla, nuts, cinnamon, raisins, apples. Pour into a buttered baking dish and sprinkle with nutmeg. Set in pan of hot water. Bake in preheated oven (350 degrees) for 45 to 60 minutes. Or when knife inserted in the center comes out clean. You can serve this hot or cold topped with whipped cream or just milk. I always double recipe to get 10 servings out of it. |
