"FRUIT" CAKE 
2 lb. dates
1 lb. Brazil nuts
1 lb. pecans or walnuts
1 lb. candied cherries, red and green
1/2 lb. almonds

Put all in huge container. Add: 2 1/4 c. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 3/4 tsp. salt

Add: 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Stir mixture until well blended. Grease 3 loaf pans; line them with wax paper. Place pan of water in oven. Bake 1 1/2 hours at 300 degrees. Cool. Remove. OPTION: Wrap in brandy soaked paper towels and over wrap in saran wrap. Seal and store for a few weeks before serving. Keep in refrigerator.
