FRENCH FRIED OKRA 
1 lb. okra
1 1/2 c. butter
Vegetable oil
1/2 tsp. salt
Milk
2 c. self-rising flour

Wash okra, drain well. Remove tips and stem ends. Cut okra into 1 inch slices. Sprinkle with salt. Add buttermilk. Stir until well coated. Let stand 15 minutes, drain and dredge okra in flour. Deep fry in hot oil until golden brown. Drain on paper towel. (I mix meal with my flour and not as much flour.)
