SPLIT PEA SOUP | |
1 lb. bag green or yellow split peas Onion Carrot Celery Bay leaf Ham pieces Broth from a boiled ham dinner This soup is made with broth remaining from a boiled ham dinner. If pieces of ham, onion, carrot and celery are in the broth, so much better. Add a bay leaf, and heat thoroughly. Follow directions on pea bag for preparation using broth for the liquid. Cook slowly, stirring often, until peas are thoroughly cooked. Add water to achieve desired consistency. Season to taste. The ham broth gives a superior flavor. |
