CORN AND BRAN MUFFINS 
3 tbsp. shortening
1 c. corn meal
3/4 c. flour
1 c. bran
2 tbsp. sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 1/3 c. milk

Melt the shortening. Add the other ingredients in order given; beat thoroughly. Transfer to oiled muffin pan. Bake 25 minutes in a hot 400 degree oven.
