ENGLISH TOFFEE 
1 c. sugar
1/2 lb. butter
3 tsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla
Hershey bars to cover top
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Combine in saucepan the sugar, butter and water. Cook for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown. Add vanilla. Pour thin layer in buttered pan. Cover with chocolate bars and sprinkle with nuts, if desired. Tastes like a Heath bar.
