RED WINE GRANITA 
3/4 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 bottle dry red wine
Juice of 1 orange
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1 tsp. grated lemon peel
1 sm. cinnamon stick

Combine sugar and water with cinnamon stick in saucepan, bring to boil and boil 2 to 3 minutes until sugar is completely dissolved. Let cool completely. Remove cinnamon stick. Stir wine, orange, lemon juice and lemon peel into syrup. Chill 15 to 20 minutes and strain. Transfer to refrigerator tray, cover and freeze, stirring once or twice as above for a granita. Serves 6.
