TWO TONE BROWNIES 
1 1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. shortening
3 eggs
1/3 c. milk
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 1/4 c. flour
1 1/2 sqs. chocolate
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. nuts
1/2 coconut (optional)

Cream sugar and shortening, add beaten eggs. Sift dry ingredients and mix well, add vanilla. Put chocolate in one half of batter - add nuts - put 1/2 cup coconut in white batter (other half). Place chocolate batter in greased 9 x 13 inch pan and put white batter on top. Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees.

CHOCOLATE FROSTING:

1 sq. chocolate
1/4 c. shortening
Dash of salt
1 c. white sugar
1/3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Stir well on low fire until it boils - boil without stirring for 1 minute and add vanilla - remove from heat and stir until stiff.
