I followed this recipe to the letter. Now I have a big problem, when I take them out of the freezer to put them in the fridge they are "melting". They have become a soft gooey liquid & the vodka has separated from the mixture. This only happened in the flat tray i am using to custom cut shots. What did I do wrong?

Everclear is vodka, just stonger than most.

I make jello shots for every party/get together I go to. They are highly requested and expected. You can make any flavor of jello shots that you want. The alcohol/liquor needs to compliment the jello. For example, you wouldn't use Malibu in grape. I do however use Malibu in Pina Colada shots (most popular), Jose Cuervo in Margarita shots, etc... Just think as a Bartender making mixed drinks. There are so many flavors of Jello and liquor that the possibilities are endless!!!

When I lived in Ohio, we went to Kentucky for Everclear. It's not as bad as people on here are portraying ... as long as you're smart about it.

Another great way to make with ANY flavor shot is to add Li Hing Mui powder to the bottom of the cup before pouring shooter in! Not sure if the States carry them but you can order online!

I really enjoy midori jello shots. A box of lime jello 2 cups boiling water and then sub 1 cup midori with 1/2 cup vodka and 1/2 sweet and sour for the cold water. Tastes just like a midori sour and I pour them in the 1 oz. plastic containers that I find at smart n final and I get about 45 shots. Enjoy!

Everclear works well, vodka works well. In reality, it is whatever alcohol YOU choose. You self righteous people need not be preaching about how everclear is a manslaughter case waiting to happen. That's BS, any alcohol is that. As a host you can only advise a person about what they are about to consume, you cannot be 100% responsible for them. If they want the alcohol, they will find a way to get it.

The cups can be found at just about any restaurant supply store and most liquor stores. I found the 2 oz. cups to be a bit big for my taste, but that's just me. We used Watermelon vodka w/Raspberry jello, was the favorite at this past New Year's Party!

And for Susan in Cali...girl gotta learn how to use your tongue! LOL Happy and Safe New Year all!

I just use the papar candy cups - about 1-inch in diameter. There so much easier to eat - u just squeeze. One important thing u have to let the jello cool slightly before pouring them in.

The place to purchase your "shot cups" would be a industrial restaurant supply store. The "cups" are called souffle cups, they come in 1oz., 2oz., 3oz, and so forth with lids.
