CHERRY WINKS COOKIES 
Sift:

2 1/4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Add:

2 tbsp. milk

Combine:

3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar

Blend in:

2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Blend in sifted dry ingredients. Mix well.

Add:

1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. chopped dates
1/3 c. chopped maraschino cherries

Mix well. Shape into balls using a level tablespoon of dough for each cookie.

Crush 2 1/2 cups corn flakes. Roll each ball of dough in corn flakes. Place on greased cookie sheet. Top each cookie with 1/4 maraschino cherry. Bake in moderate oven 375 degrees 10-12 minutes. Do not stack or store until cold. 5 dozen.
