SUNFLOWER SEED COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
1 tsp. baking soda
3 c. oatmeal
1 c. shelled sunflower seeds
1/4 c. raisins (optional)

Cream together butter and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla; beat to blend well. Add flour, salt, soda, and oatmeal; mix. Blend in seeds and raisins, if desired. Form long rolls on waxed paper about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Roll in clear plastic film and chill thoroughly. Slice 1/4 inch thick. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. These rolls may be kept frozen. Pull out; slice and bake for fresh baked cookies anytime. Makes 9 dozen.
