HOMEMADE TORTILLAS | |
4 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder A little less than 1 tbsp. salt 1/2 c. shortening 1 c. warm water Mix together flour, baking powder and salt. Add shortening and cut into flour mixture with two butter knives until evenly distributed. Add water and mix with hands and form into a large dough ball. Then tear pieces off and form smaller dough balls (about the size of golf balls). Using a rolling pin, roll a dough ball out into a flat circle. Cook tortilla at a medium heat in a cast iron pan or griddle until begins to bubble. Turn tortilla over and cook on the other side until both sides are browned. Stack tortillas as you make them to soften them up. (12 tortillas)., |
