DATE BALLS 
1 c. white sugar
1/2 c. butter, 1 stick
1/8 tsp. salt
1 beaten egg
1 heaping cup finely chopped dates

Blend all ingredients together in pan over low heat for 10 minutes. Stir constantly. Let cool to luke warm.

2 1/2 c. Rice Krispies
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Make into balls, roll in flaked coconut.
