EASY AND ELEGANT CHEESE SOUFFLE | |
3 c. grated Cheddar cheese or other cheese 4 to 6 slices whole wheat bread 2 c. milk or 1 1/2 c. milk and 1/2 c. wine or vermouth 3 eggs, beaten 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire 1/2 tsp. dry mustard 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. thyme Pepper Layer cheese and bread in an oiled baking dish, starting with bread. Pour over it milk or milk mixture. Beat, with the eggs, the salt and remaining ingredients and pour this over bread mixture. Let stand 30 minutes. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour in a pan of hot water. |
