SCONES 
2 c. white flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 tbsp. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Mix all dry ingredients together. Make a well in the middle and add raisins, nuts and buttermilk. Stir ingredients just enough to moisten. Trim dough and well floured surface and gently knead for 30 seconds. Flatten dough with hand to one inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes, place on greased cookie sheet and bake in preheated 400 degree oven for 12-15 minutes. Cover baked scones with a dish towel while cooling. Best just out of oven. Store in airtight container in refrigerator. Good toasted or broiled. Serves 1 dozen +.
